Why is this happening?
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is implementing new safety regulations for children’s toys under the revised Consumer Product Safety Act. We’ve identified that you may be listing children’s toys that fall under these new requirements. If your products are not intended for children under 36 months, no action is required.

How do I address this issue?
To prepare for these new regulations, review your toy listings on Amazon.co.jp and update the “Manufacturer’s Recommended Minimum Age (Months)” or “Minimum Reading Age” field on every toy product detail page. When entering the “Manufacturer’s Recommended Minimum Age (Months)”, you must enter the age in months (e.g., enter “0” if suitable for 0 months and older).

Note: If you don’t provide the age information by December 25, 2025, you must submit documentation confirming the target age of your products to continue selling.

The age range should be based on reasonable rationale and should not contradict your advertising, similar products’ age limits, or consumer expectations. For guidance on age-based usage standards, refer to the Consumer Product Safety Act.

Starting Dec 25, 2025, the new METI regulations will require sellers to:

• Confirm compliance with technical standards
• Comply with age-based usage standards
• Display warning labels including the age range
• Display the Children’s PSC mark

To continue to sell children’s toys, you will be asked in a future communication to submit documents which show that your products have been tested and comply with the laws, regulations, and standards listed below:
